    The forthcoming issue of Tanwir: Journal of Islamic Civilization explores the theme "Maqāṣid as a Philosophy of Islamic Civilization." This edition aims to highlight the profound role of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah (the objectives of Islamic law) as a foundational philosophy shaping various aspects of Muslim life and civilization. By delving into the rich historical development and contemporary relevance of Maqasid, this collection of scholarly articles sheds light on how this timeless concept can provide a robust framework for addressing the complex challenges facing Muslim societies today. As an integral framework within Islamic thought, maqāṣid extends beyond legal theory, offering insights into ethics, governance, education, economics, and other fields of human development.

    In this issue, authors are encouraged to present articles that analyze the practical application of maqāṣid in contemporary Muslim societies. Contributions may include case studies, theoretical discussions, and interdisciplinary approaches that bridge maqāṣid with other fields of knowledge, such as social sciences, economics, medicine, environmental studies, and education.
