This study examines Ibnu Rushd’s (Averroes) philosophy of the soul, focusing on the concept of unlimited self-potential. It begins by exploring the life and intellectual background of Ibnu Rushd, which shaped his philosophical ideas. The essence of the soul is analyzed through its definition, Ibnu Rushd’s views on the soul, and the concept of the soul’s immortality. The study also highlights the relationship between the philosophy of the soul and self-knowledge, including humans as a microcosm, evidence for the soul’s existence, reflection on the world to know God (ma‘rifatullāh), and the unity of the active intellect (al-‘aql al-fa‘āl) and the potential intellect (al-‘aql al-munfa‘il) as a path to self-actualization. This research emphasizes the relevance of Ibnu Rushd’s thought in understanding human intellectual and spiritual potential.
