Reviving the Spirit of Maqasid: Towards a Just and Flourishing Islamic Civilization

Islamic civilization has long been celebrated for its ethical depth and societal contributions. At the heart of this civilization lies the philosophy of Maqasid al-Shariah, a framework that has often been overshadowed by narrowly legalistic interpretations. This paper argues that Maqasid must be revisited as the living spirit and philosophical foundation of Islamic civilization. Through an exploration of its classical applications, the causes behind its disconnection, and its potential role in addressing contemporary global challenges, this study advocates for a revival of Maqasid as a transformative force for a just and flourishing future. Revitalizing Maqasid is not merely a scholarly endeavor, but a civilizational imperative for the modern world.
