This paper examines al-Ghazali’s intellectual journey after his spiritual awakening, marked by the Munqidh event. With a particular focus on Mishkāt al-Anwār, one of al-Ghazali’s later work, this paper attempts to analyse al-Ghazali’s post-Munqidh epistemology and metaphysics. It explores al-Ghazali’s views on the ontology of lights and its subsequent cosmological system, highlighting its parallelism with Neoplatonism. The paper also contrasts his post-Munqidh views with his earlier criticisms of Peripatetic philosophy in Tahāfut al-Falāsifah, arguing that the post-Munqidh view represents his real and final position.
