The modern Islamic theological approach designed by Abdul Jabbar Rifai regarding human dignity in Ilm al-Kalam Jadidplaces humanity at the center of discourse without neglecting the transcendental relationship with God. Rifai critiques classical theology for being less responsive to contemporary issues, such as human rights and pluralism, as well as secular humanism, which disregards the spiritual dimension. By integrating faith and humanism, Rifai develops a concept of faith-based humanism that emphasizes the values of equality and respect for human dignity. Ilm al-Kalam Jadid holds great potential to serve as a foundation for a relevant, inclusive, and contextual Islamic theology to address global challenges. Rifai’s ideas not only represent a renewal of theology but also aim to pave the way for the transformation of spiritual humanism in the modern world.
